Gestalt Psychotherapy

Gestalt approach seeks to bring into the open what is hidden.  You can only change what you are aware of.  You can, although you don't necessarily have to.  Getting to know yourself can be an exciting journey on its own.  True, it isn't always comfortable to bring some things about yourself into the light.  To do that takes courage, commitment and, well, time.  We don't usually become enlightened over night but move rather slowly towards rediscovering ourselves.  

 

But whatever the outcome of this journey, I am convinced the awareness you gain is a blessing, not a curse.  Awareness is an instrument that allows you to respond fully and congruously to the situation you find yourself in.

 

The relationship between you and the Gestalt therapist accompanying you on this journey is the most important aspect.  And their personality matters a great deal.  We all have our personal styles shaped by our life experiences, interests, values, education and so on.
